HOW TO ACCELERATE LEARNING TRANSFER THROUGH COMPETENCY-BASED LEARNING

    Thursday, July 19, 2018 1:00pm - 2:00pm EDT

By: Cheryl Lasse, Managing Partner, SkillDirector

Competency models identify what an organization needs people in a particular role to do in order for it to succeed and create competitive advantage. They intrinsically motivate people to mastery, and they provide each person with a road map for how to be great.

The responsibility of talent development and learning and development is to provide the best chance for learning transfer to occur, such that the required skills are acquired, and business results follow. If the competency models define the required skills, then you need to make sure you have, or create, competency-based learning. In this webcast, we’ll show you the process for mapping models for learning, including informal learning.

    You’ll learn how to:

    • Link competency models to existing learning opportunities.
    • Use competency models to identify learning opportunities you need to develop.
    • Keep your mapping current.

Title: The Biggest Career Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

Did you ever see smart people make stupid decisions? Many people do just that with their own careers. Just because we may be brilliant trainers or instructional designers, does not mean we manage our career very well. In fact, most Americans probably spend more time planning their vacations, than planning their careers. The good news is that you can fix this.

This presentation will provide workplace professionals with practical tips, ideas and strategies that you can apply immediately to get the job or promotion you want, and put your career on the right track.

At the end of this presentation, you will be able to:

    • List at least three career mistakes people make
    • Create a basic short and long term career plan
    • Describe how to market yourself
    • Identify emerging jobs that have less competition
    • Apply career tools effectively, such as LinkedIn

Session Title: Humans of the Digital Revolution

The Digital Revolution is largely a human story. While technology often steals the spotlight – the protagonist of the changing social, economic and learning landscape is the fulfillment of human-centric needs. As never before, learning practitioners can truly put students at the center of the instructional experience using new digital tools and platforms that provide learning at the moment of need. By leveraging successful external platform strategies such as YouTube, Netflix and even Instagram, learning organizations can transform the way they train and develop organizations.
