This course discusses the importance of knowledge management, how we are all knowledge workers and manage knowledge all the time.  It demonstrates how using Knowledge Management principles to govern training creation and maintenance results in focused, fresh training.  Additionally, the continuity processes outlined ensure that the knowledge and skills used successfully  persist through generations of trainers and training management.

Bio - As a pioneer in the harmonization of Knowledge Management (KM) and Government strategy at the Foreign Service Institute, the Senior Knowledge Management Specialist of the School of Professional and Area Studies (SPAS), Tara Mohn is a practitioner, instructor, mentor, and speaker in KM strategy, methods, and tools such as SharePoint. Acknowledged as a State Department Knowledge Management expert, Tara is often consulted by other offices and bureaus for guidance on implementing Knowledge Management practices.

A Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM), Tara strives to deploy structured, value-added business processes on all her projects. A member of the Curriculum & Staff Development (CSD) division of SPAS, Tara is deploying her proven Knowledge Management strategies school-wide across the SPAS front office and all 10 divisions. Tara is leading a Knowledge Management initiative at SPAS. In the future, she hopes to lead a similar effort for FSI and the Agency overall.

Tara is a leader in the Knowledge Management community.  She co-founded the Knowledge Management Community pf DC in July, 2013.  This robust 538-member community continues to conduct monthly meetings for and by KM practitioners in the Washington DC area.
