The Evolving Landscape of the eLearning Professional - Suggestions from the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Co-Lab. 

This presentation is intended for training professionals, instructional designers, and eLearning developers who develop and produce SCORM-based online training products.  SCORM stands for the Shareable Content Object Reference Model and consists of standards and specifications that govern the integration of online training products with the learning management systems that deliver them.  The SCORM standards are governed and managed by the Advanced Distributed Learning Co-Lab.  This presentation will focus on the following topics:
  • Role of ADL in the Learning Community as the custodian of the SCORM elearning standard
  • Mission and future direction of the ADL
  • Emerging new technologies and standards...the next revision of SCORM
  • eLearning content authoring tools (what to use and when to use them)
  • Effective elearning development practices, tips, and trick .

Our presenter: Peter Berking has more than 16 years of experience in a broad base of instructional design and development activities, for products ranging from technology-driven e-learning products and performance support systems to instructor-led courses. He is a subject matter expert in instructional design and advanced learning technologies, publishing articles for industry publications and presenting at conferences.  Peter is a member of the ADL SCORM team and has been an Instructional Designer at the ADL Co-Lab Hub in Alexandria, VA since 2008.
