Inside Job - How to Lead When You Aren't the Boss

You may not want to be a manager, that doesn't mean you can't be a leader. Good leaders get results by focusing on the right actions, language and mindset regardless of title or role. While many instructional designers and trainers are comfortable serving as an internal consultant, a number of us struggle to lead from our expertise and experience when faced with demands from SMEs, executives and project sponsors. We may not have a title that conveys leadership, but each one of us can lead from our cube (box) in a way that gives us influence and opens the doors for better dialogue across the different levels of the organization.

This session outlines:

  • How leading from within benefits you, your employer, and your career
  • The A-list Leader model for learning professionals
  • 7 Steps to leading from your own box
